2026 Prescribed Fire Training for Agency Personnel

Three days of classes and training sessions toward certification as a prescribed fire manager.

An optional recertification training will be available for persons already holding certification on afternoon of the last day.

AGENDA

Tuesday, March 31, 2026

9 am - Registration

9:30 am - Classroom Morning Session will cover the basics of prescribed fire, its applications, and behavior.

Noon – Lunch

1 pm – Classroom Afternoon Session will cover wildlife impacts and creating a prescription for a burn.

Wednesday, April 1, 2026

9 am – Meet in Classroom to review prescribed fire plan followed by travel to burn area to begin prescribed burn (weather permitting).

Lunch to follow burn exercise

After Lunch – review of burn

Thursday,April 2, 2026

9 am – Classroom review and exam. Participants will review the previous day's prescribed burn and the course curriculum. An exam will be administered at the end of the workshop.

1 pm – Prescribed Burner Recertification Training (Forestland) (90 minutes)

Intended for those who need only the recertification training in order to renew their current status with LDAF.
