Day 1

🕑: 08:30 AM - 04:30 PM
Houses That Work: A Full Day Building Science Course for New Construction
Host: Aaron Smith

Info: Master the fundamentals of building science in this full-day workshop for builders, suppliers, and trade contractors navigating the complex world of residential construction.

Learn the core principles of air, heat, and moisture flow and how to apply this knowledge to make superior material and method decisions. The session covers designing better attics, walls, and foundations, and integrating HVAC systems for optimal energy efficiency.

We will also detail cost-effective strategies for improving indoor air quality and creating healthier living environments. Finally, discover how leveraging building science can enhance your company's marketing position. Case studies show how successful builders gain a competitive edge by communicating the true value of high-performance homes. Leave with actionable knowledge to meet code and consumer demands cost-effectively.

🕑: 04:30 PM - 06:00 PM
Networking & Social Hour

Info: After the first day of training, unwind with us over light appetizers, a cash bar, and fantastic networking opportunities. Your registration includes two free drink tickets and the opportunity to win exciting door prizes. Don't miss out on the chance to connect, relax, and have fun!

Day 2

🕑: 08:30 AM - 04:30 PM
Retrofits That Work: Building Science Lessons for Near Zero Renovations
Host: Aaron Smith

Info: Master Deep Energy & Near-Zero Renovations in this Full-Day Workshop.

Learn how to use building science principles—air, heat, and moisture flow—to transform existing homes into durable, safe, and near-zero energy residences. This session is vital for professionals tackling high-performance renovations.

We will cover the fundamentals of assessing and upgrading existing enclosures, selecting the best materials, and choosing efficient, resilient mechanical (HVAC) systems. You will learn how to integrate renewables like PV and battery storage, and apply building science to attics, walls, foundations, and windows.

Crucially, the workshop details cost-effective strategies for improving indoor air quality, ensuring healthier living environments. Leave with a thorough, systems-based understanding of the renovation process needed to deliver high-performance, comfortable homes.

Extra Session

🕑: 07:00 AM - 08:15 AM
Mastering Contracts: Your Key to Contractor Success
Host: Bill Gschwind; Minnesota Construction Law Services

Info: **EXACT PRESENTATION DAY IS PENDING** Contracting governs nearly every part of a project. As a licensed contractor, you must have a written contract with your customer. Most specialty trades and subcontractor relationships also require contracts. In residential work, general contractors often spend more time coordinating performance under contracts than building. This course demystifies contracts, showing they’re not just legal protection but a step-by-step guide for successful projects. Learn the key parts of a contract, why they matter, and how they protect you and your business.
