Registration has opened for the 2024 Chesapeake AP Broadcasters Association Convention & Awards Banquet!The annual event honoring outstanding broadcast journalism in Maryland, Delaware and Washington, D.C., will be held May 31-June 2 at the beautifully renovated Hilton Garden Inn Ocean City Oceanfront (formerly the Dunes Manor Hotel).
Activities kick off Friday at 7:00 p.m. with a Crab Feast and Auction to benefit the Bob Shilling Memorial Scholarship, followed by Saturday’s 9:00 a.m. business meeting and Seminar on “Safety of Journalists and the Changing Environment We Work In."
In this presentation, we will discuss the current threats, trends, and concerns of domestic US journalists and what we can do to move forward, support our field crews, and provide a safe working environment for all staff and freelancers. We will cover threat assessment and planning, low-resource reporting, civil unrest, hate groups, and crimes against the media.
The Awards Reception & Banquet begins at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday night, and of course, you are encouraged to enjoy the BEACH throughout the weekend at this beautiful oceanfront resort!
