“Thank you, thank you for being the most amazing teacher and creating such a beautiful space of kindness and acceptance! These six months feel like they have changed my very core”
Graduate: May 2023
Key Learning Outcomes:
- Learn a new skill with the scope to create a business
- Have the knowledge and confidence to create and deliver well-designed yoga classes
- Learn in a safe, supportive environment where Allison will hold space for you to be yourself
- Learn business from someone who has twice built a 6-figure yoga business and brought in seven figures in yoga-business sales
- Develop your own authentic style of teaching, bringing your own personality and life experience
- Benefit from three individual mentoring sessions with Allison post-graduation where you can continue to develop your teaching and business skills in a safe, supportive environment
This training begins with the intention of being an inclusive, dedicated and resourceful program. In addition to the many hours you will spend with our Lead Teacher Allison, this training also offers an opportunity to study with our skilled and knowledgeable faculty who will assist in certain units. There will be ample led-practice time and abundant practice teaching. Expect to learn a lot. This program will give you the knowledge and tools to sequence, cue, assist and execute a well-informed yoga class while also deepening your understanding of personal practice.
Trainees will learn about the rich history and philosophy of this wonderful practice and will have time to reflect, ask questions and join discussions to aid learning. You’ll study over 75 yoga asana (poses) along with their variations and modifications, and you’ll learn why each pose might look and feel different from one person to the next.
Trainees will also benefit from a comprehensive study of the Business of Yoga, and how to set up your own yoga business and market your classes effectively. You will learn how to run your yoga business professionally and how to grow and develop in a safe, supportive environment. The business section will gradually build during the training, with time to reflect in between modules. The purpose is to provide a safe space to decide on the journey that your yoga business will take, and equip you with the knowledge and skills you need to get there. Please note that there is no obligation for graduates to begin teaching, or to set up a yoga business, however should you choose to do so, you’ll have all the tools you need to get started.
Applicants to this training must have had a consistent yoga practice for at least two years. The curriculum is designed for curious, compassionate students who would like to enrich their understanding of yin and hatha yoga as well as the rich history and lineages of this wonderful practice, while gaining the skills to teach a safe and well-designed yoga class. There is a great focus on yoga-based anatomy and physiology and our teaching follows a functional approach, considering each individual, even in a group setting. If accepted, students should be prepared to immerse themselves in yoga for the duration of the training, both within the scheduled hours and outside of the classroom. To graduate, students must participate fully in all aspects of the program and demonstrate their understanding of the materials covered. This is done by completing all hours and practice sessions as well as all homework assignments. Graduation is not guaranteed.
This program is directed by Allison Harrison, owner of Hot Yoga Edinburgh, and supported by the exceptional Hot Yoga Edinburgh faculty. Learning methods include; lectures, workshops, led practice, discussions, tutorials, teaching practice, co-learning, applied learning, written exercises, and case studies.
