Kirtan (Sanskrit: कीर्तन) translates as reciting. It is the shared recitation, or call & response, of spiritual ideals and holy names found in the Veda and other sacred writings. Kirtan originates from India where it is an important spiritual practice among many groups. Kirtan is not a formal practice and in modern times can include hymns from many traditions, as well as songs that espouse the qualities of peace, goodness, service, love, and unity.

Kirtan is part of Spiritual Saturdays at the Ashram. On the 1st Saturday of each month, the Ashram hosts a full day schedule of offerings to deepen your exploration of the path of yoga. These offerings include:
9:00 - 10:00 AM Learning the Mantras
10:15 - 11:30 AM Yoga Basics
11:30 AM - 12:30 PM Food4All Cafe Brunch
12:30 - 2:00 PM Monthly Ayurveda Workshop (different Ayurveda based topic each month)
2:00 - 3:30 PM Monthly Workshop (different topic each month)
2:00 - 3:30 PM Kids Yoga & Craft
3:30 - 5:00 PM Homa Fire Ceremony
5:00 - 6:00 PM Food4All Cafe Dinner
6:00 - 7:30 PM Kirtan
~ Kirtan will be held in the auditorium

~ Each student attending needs their own registration
~ Please park on the semi-circle in front of the Ashram. Additional parking is available behind the Ashram and in the side lot by the gardens.
~ Entry to the Ashram is through the front doors only.
ASHRAM ETIQUETTE
* Please remove your shoes and leave them in the hallway
* Please have your shoulders covered when not practicing yoga
* Please speak softly and respectfully
* No food or drink should be brought into alter rooms
* Please leave water bottles in the hallway
* Please do not touch the stained glass in the Saraswati Mandir
