Discover Castle Water's wildlife in this peaceful guided walk with our expert James Duncan in one of the best places for birds in Sussex! In a circular walk of around 3 to 4 miles, starting at Brede Lock on Harbour Road, we'll take in Castle Water and the farmed part of Rye Harbour Nature Reserve, a quiet, less-visited part of the reserve.Weβll follow the River Brede across the sheep fields then we'll head to the bird hide overlooking the water. We might see Swallows, House Martins, ducks and other waterbirds, such as Great Crested Grebes, maybe even the magnificent Marsh Harrier!
On the way back, we'll pass Henry VIII's Camber Castle as well as reedbeds, grazing fields and ditches which support a variety of wildlife.
A previous attendee of James's Castle Water walk told us what they enjoyed most:
"Superb guiding from James...Good pace and clear, interesting facts. Great [bird] spotting as well."
