Ever wanted to bring a favorite story to life with your own brush? This class is designed for complete beginners — no painting experience needed, just curiosity and a love of books.
You’ll learn:
• Basic composition — how to arrange a title, imagery, and mood on a “cover”
• Simple color theory to set tone and genre (moody thriller vs. whimsical romance vs. epic fantasy)
• Foundational brush techniques: blending, layering, and creating texture
• How to sketch a rough layout before painting
• Tips for adding lettering or typography-style elements by hand
Each student picks a book (their own favorite, or one provided) and paints an original cover interpretation over the course of the session. All materials are provided, and every skill is taught step-by-step with plenty of encouragement — mistakes are part of the process here, not something to avoid.
By the end, you’ll walk away with a finished piece of art and a few new techniques you can keep building on.
