Celebrate Black History Month with the first Snell Lecture of 2026, an inspiring afternoon of music, theology, and cultural reflection. Open to all. No RSVP required.🎼 The lecture begins with a musical presentation by The Nathaniel Dett Chorale, performing The Nguzo Saba Suite, followed by a public lecture from Dr. Stephen Newby of Baylor University.
📖 Dr. Newby’s lecture, “Kindred, Kindness, Koinónia – Black Sacred Music: The Music of Andraé Crouch and his Musical Community,” explores the theological and cultural significance of Andraé Crouch’s Gospel music and its intersection with the Nguzo Saba, the Seven Principles of Kwanzaa.

5:00pm: Lecture by Dr. Stephen Newby + Q&A followed by reception (details below).
