About this Event

Celebrate Black History Month with Shared Bylines and Patois!

WHERE: Patois, 794 Dundas St W, Toronto, ON M6J 1V1

WHEN: Sunday, Feb. 15 at 12 p.m.

COST: PWYC donations (suggested $30 – or more if you're able!!) toward Hurricane Melissa relief

First and foremost, we're raising funds for Hurricane Melissa relief. Months after the disaster, financial support is still needed in devastated countries such as Jamaica, Cuba, Haiti and Dominican Repubic. Proceeds from the afternoon will be shared to the Jamaican Canadian Association and other organizations providing relief across the Caribbean.

And we're so excited to welcome an all-star panel! Moderator Kelsey Adams (CBC Music) is joined by Elamin Abdelmahmoud (CBC's Commotion), Bee Quammie (Author, The Book of Possibilities) and Connor Garel (Dazed, Justsmile) to discuss the ins and outs of breaking into the media industry, and particularly the challenges faced by Black journalists and other minorities.

Afterward, stick around and hang out with us. PWYC entry includes amazing food courtesy of Patois: Mini Pineapple Bun Burgers, Brussels Sprouts Noodle Salad and Patois's Famous Fried Chicken Bites!
