South African visual artists are invited to enter the prestigious Sasol New Signatures Visual Arts Competition 2026, the countryβs longest-running art competition dedicated to discovering and supporting emerging talent.
Now in its 64th year, the competition offers a powerful platform for artists at the start of their careers to gain national recognition, professional exposure, and meaningful opportunities for growth.
π Prizes include:
β’ R100 000 (overall winner)
β’ R25 000 (runner-up)
β’ Five merit awards of R10 000 each
β’ A solo exhibition at the Pretoria Art Museum in 2027
Each year, approximately 100 finalists are selected to exhibit at the Pretoria Art Museum, with their work featured in a printed catalogue, contributing to South Africaβs contemporary art narrative.
π€ Who can enter?
β’ South African artists (18 years and older)
β’ Artists who have not yet held a solo exhibition
β’ Artists working across all visual art mediums (painting, sculpture, photography, video, installation, etc.)
β’ Artists may submit up to 2 artworks
