🇺🇸 Veterans Day Honor Walk (3.5 Miles) 👟
Join East Coast Hikers as we come together to honor and thank the brave men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces. We’ll take a 3.5-mile afternoon walk across the Jordan Bridge, enjoying panoramic views of the Elizabeth River, the working harbor, passing ships, and the Hampton Roads waterfront. It’s a unique opportunity to experience one of the area’s most recognizable landmarks while spending time together as a community on Veterans Day.

👟 Walk Begins: 4:00 PM
📍 Meet: Shelter at Elizabeth River Park
📍 Address: 1400 Elizabeth River Way, Chesapeake, VA 23324
🚗 Parking: Free parking is available at Elizabeth River Park.
🚻 Restrooms: Available at the park.
🐕 Dogs: Well-behaved dogs on a leash are welcome.
Walk Details
* Distance: 3.5 miles round trip
* Terrain: Paved pedestrian walkway with a steady incline across the bridge
* Pace: Casual social pace with regrouping as needed
Route
We’ll begin at the shelter in Elizabeth River Park and walk across the Jordan Bridge, taking in elevated views of the Elizabeth River, Portsmouth, Norfolk, and the busy working harbor below. We’ll continue to the turnaround point on the Portsmouth side before returning across the bridge for a total distance of approximately 3.5 miles.
Those who wish are welcome to wear patriotic colors in honor of our veterans.

* Please RSVP so we know to expect you.
* Bring water and wear comfortable walking shoes.
* We’ll begin promptly at 4:00 PM.
* Children are welcome with a parent or guardian.
* Please help us keep the group together by staying within sight of the hikers ahead and behind you.
