Join us for our annual Canada Day Boat Parade! Boaters meet at the uninhabited portion of the south end of the lake so as not to cause congestion at the boat launch or in front of inhabited property. Please meet at 11:15am for a 11:30 start.
Boaters! Decorate your boat, dress up, and bring some noisemakers!
Homeowners! Come out on your docks and decks to wave!
1. All participants must meet the following basic requirements:
a. Have a properly registered vessel capable of safe travel.
b. The vessel operator must be licensed.
c. It is illegal to operate a boat while under the influence of alcohol.
d. The vessel must meet all requirements for on-board safety equipment, including sufficient life jackets for all on board.
2. The lead boat will be a blue Sylvan pontoon with a Canada flag. The lead boat will signal the beginning of the parade with three short blasts
3. We will proceed counterclockwise around the lake. Please take a wide berth around the area of the boat launch and observe all swim buoys.
4. Please maintain a wide slow/safe lane between the power boats and the shore for any non-motorized vessels (canoes, kayaks, SUP, etc). Canoeists/kayakers, please stay close to shore and be aware of motorized traffic.
5. Please allow a substantial amount of spacing between boats as you merge into the line. Be prepared and courteous for those who may cut in front of you. Keep a minimum distance of 3 boat lengths between vessels.
6. Maintain the BC Near-Shore Speed Limit of 10 kph within 30m (100') from shore and adjust for traffic as necessary. Be advised that sometimes the parade line may get bunched up and you will need to adjust accordingly.
7. Please watch out for boats who join the parade while in progress who may not aware of these guidelines. Please be aware, cautious and courteous of these boats and set an example of with your boating behaviour.
8. Designate a look-out on board to assist the vessel operator during the event.
