⊹ 展覽論述 ⊹
2024年8月，由台灣視覺藝術聯盟（視盟）在大稻埕發起的「城市跑庫文化運動會-藝術團體賽」。張芯、鄭尹真、胡馨方、王翊萱、張允所組成的團隊「新牛仔庫」於活動中一路過關斬將，榮獲首獎，有了在福利社的展出機會。
之後便以：「展出藝術家：鄭尹真、胡馨方、張芯；文件翻譯及文史研究：王翊萱；開幕表演聲音製作：張允」的架構開始執行展覽計劃。
展名「四月望雨」實為鄧雨賢四首名曲的合稱。在此計畫被建構的開端，為了書寫與文化運動會地點相關計畫，藝術家們有了接觸台灣日治時期音樂史的機會，在各自研究後展開不同的創作計畫。在展覽內容製作後期，可以發現參與本計畫的藝術家們，並不是在進行以歷史人物或事件為主體的脈絡研究和考察，參與城市跑庫文化運動會及撰寫最初研究計畫的契機，成為了藝術家們的敲門磚，創作者們吸收此活動帶來的養分，各自依循自我的創作脈絡及個人經驗，尋找及進入了不同的藝術實踐之門。
其中，鄭尹真因為不同年代的音樂，引發其對於時間、記憶、虛實的興趣，在此次展覽中以自身生命經驗出發，嘗試處理生死及親密情感的議題。
胡馨方對於鄧雨賢在歷史上的地位性是如何被塑造出來，及其地位的可否受公評性有興趣，藉由創作思考當代社會中評斷歷史的方法，及尊嚴和名聲的製造。
張芯因展覽計畫機緣，和本報特邀印尼作家艾爾凡展開了一段對「權威和情歌」之間關係的思辨，在過程中艾爾凡分享了許多印尼史料，某一部分的事件發生地恰好位於張芯目前生活的城市巴黎。藉由親身拜訪相關地點，張芯以自身視角，嘗試理解一段印尼政治犯與巴黎印尼餐廳之間錯綜復雜的關係。
閱讀台灣音樂史、被殖民史的同時，除了參展藝術家們互相討論，也邀請了不同作家、漫畫家、活網人士，撰寫他們對此議題的相關感受及想法，並將內容編排製成本展覽特報，讓觀者有機會看到不同立場的理解內容，嘗試透過作品展成以外，書寫及獨立出版的方式，傳遞更多元面向的，創作者的所思所想。

⊹Artist Statement⊹
In August 2024, the Association of the Visual Arts in Taiwan (AVAT) launched the City Run-Co Culture Games - Art Group Competition in Dadaocheng. The team "New Johns," composed of Chang Hsin, Cheng Yin-Chen, Lulu Hu, Wang Yi-Hsuan, and Chang Yun, emerged victorious in the competition and earned the opportunity to exhibit at Frees Art Space.
Following the competition, the team began planning the exhibition under the structure:

The exhibition title, Last April Rain, references a compilation of four famous compositions by Teng Yu-Hsien. At the project's inception, the artists aimed to create works related to the cultural history of the competition's location, leading them to explore the history of Taiwanese music during the Japanese colonial period. From their research, the artists developed distinct creative projects.
As the exhibition content took shape, it became evident that the artists were not conducting in-depth contextual research on historical figures or events. Instead, the City Run-Co Culture Games and the opportunity to draft the initial research proposal served as a springboard for their artistic endeavors. Drawing inspiration from the event, the artists followed their l context and personal experiences, ultimately leading to diverse artistic practices.
Cheng Yin-Chen explored themes of time, memory, and the interplay between reality and illusion, inspired by the temporal shifts in music. Through her personal life experiences, she addressed issues of life, death, and intimate relationships in this exhibition.
Lulu Who focused on the construction of Teng Yu-Hsien's historical significance and questioned whether this prominence is subject to public evaluation. Her work reflected on contemporary methods of assessing history, as well as the production of dignity and reputation.
Chang Hsin engaged in a dialogue with Indonesian writer Irfan, reflecting on the relationship between "authority and love songs." Irfan shared historical materials from Indonesia, some of which coincidentally related to locations in Paris where Chang Hsin currently resides. By visiting these sites, she attempted to understand, from her perspective, the intricate connections between an Indonesian political prisoner and an Indonesian restaurant in Paris.
While delving into Taiwan's musical and colonial histories, the exhibiting artists engaged in mutual discussions and invited writers, comic artists, and cyber celebrities to contribute their thoughts and emotions on these topics. These contributions were compiled into a special exhibition publication, offering viewers diverse interpretations and perspectives. Through this effort, the artists sought to convey their reflections not only through the exhibited works but also through writing and independent publishing, presenting their multifaceted ideas in a broader context.
