Wāhine Māori during the women’s suffrage movement
The documentary He Māngai Wāhine, directed by Katie Wolfe (2018) delves into the radical histories of wāhine Māori activism during the women’s suffrage movement in the late 1800s. Hear their stories of resistance as told through their descendants.
"A lot of our Māori stories, history stories, are not told in New Zealand — particularly around the land wars, but stories pertaining to wāhine Māori are even less told." — Katie Wolfe
The film will screen on loop from 9am to 5pm.
