George Orwell 1945-ben kiadott szatirikus kisregénye, az Állatfarm tulajdonképpen a sztálini Szovjetunió allegóriája és kritikája, tágabb értelemben viszont azt a gondolatot járja körül, hogy egy eredetileg szép és nemes elképzelés hogyan válik totális diktatúrává.
Tudhatjuk előre, hogy milyen előzmények vezetnek egy ilyen rendszer kiépítéséhez? Vajon észrevehetjük ezeket a forradalmat megelőző titkos szervezkedésekben, a gyűlésekben, a titokban énekelt indulókban vagy egyes szereplők jellemvonásaiban?
A „forradalom” győzelme magával hozza a legdicsőbb korszakot: a gazdaság virágzik, a nagy bőségben mindenki dupla fejadagot kap, demokratikus gyűlésekre járnak, közös döntéseket hoznak, megemlékeznek a dicsőséges ember elleni harcról, és a mindenki által elfogadott hét parancsolat őrzi a biztonságot. Az egyenlőség eszméje azonban elkorcsosul, amikor a disznók hatalomra kerülnek. Egyre több kiváltságot kezdenek el élvezni, és egyre több területen: megtanulnak írni-olvasni, ők kapják a tejet, nem dolgoznak, hanem „vezetnek”, megszűnnek a gyűlések, saját szájuk íze szerint alakítják át a „történelmet” és a törvényeket.
Orwell mindezzel felteszi a kérdést is: létezhet-e társadalmi egyenlőség, vagy mindig kell olyan, aki dolgozik, és olyan, aki irányít?

Publicat în 1945, romanul satiric Ferma animalelor de George Orwell este de fapt o alegorie și o critică la adresa Uniunii Sovietice staliniste. Într-un context mai larg, romanul explorează modul în care o idee iniţial frumoasă și nobilă poate degenera într-o dictatură totalitară.
Am putea anticipa din timp care sunt antecedentele care duc la construirea unui astfel de sistem? Putem observa aceste semne care preced revoluţii în modul de acţiune al organizațiilor secrete, al şedinţelor, marşurilor cântate în secret sau în trăsăturile unor personaje?
Victoria „revoluției” aduce cu sine cea mai glorioasă epocă: economia este în plină expansiune, în contextul abudenţei, toată lumea primește raţii duble, participă la mitinguri democratice, ia decizii comune, comemorează lupta glorioasă împotriva omului, securitatea tuturor fiind asigurată de cele șapte porunci agreate de către toată lumea. În paralel, însă, pe măsură ce porcii ajung la putere, idealul egalității este distorsionat. Încep să se bucure de privilegii din ce în ce mai multe în numeroase domenii: învață să citească și să scrie, ei sunt cei care primesc laptele, nu lucrează, ci „conduc”, şedintele dispar, „istoria” şi legile sunt reformulate după bunul lor plac.
Ca atare, Orwell formulează următoarea întrebare: poate exista egalitate socială sau va fi întotdeauna nevoie de cineva care lucrează și de altcineva care conduce?

Published in 1945, George Orwell's satirical novel Animal farm is in fact an allegory and a critique of the Stalinist Soviet Union, and in a broader context, it explores how an initially beautiful and noble idea can degenerate into a total dictatorship.
Could we predict in advance what are the precursors that will lead to the construction of such a system? Can we detect these signs that precede revolutions in the way secret organizations are managed, meetings are held, marches sung in secret or by the features of certain characters?
The victory of the "revolution" brings forth the most glorious era: the economy is booming, in the context of abundance everyone receives double rations, participates in democratic rallies, makes common decisions, commemorates the glorious fight against man, the security of all being ensured by the seven commands agreed upon by everyone. In parallel, however, the ideal of equality is distorted as pigs come to power. They are beginning to enjoy more and more privileges in various fields: they learn to read and write, they are the ones who receive the milk, they do not work, but "lead"; the meetings disappear, "history" and the laws are reformed according to their own will.
As such, Orwell asks the following question: could social equality be actually achieved or will there always be a need for someone who works and someone else who leads?
