¡AY!KALIMBA! – a brand new club night with a live band headlining*… think festival vibes only with a guarantee of no mud!
We couldn’t think of a better way to kick things off than to team up with the organisers of Anglesey’s Tonnau Festival for a tropical garden warm up party featuring the 10 piece afro-tropical-funk band Drymbago as the main act!
North Wales based Drymbago (pronounced Drum-bay-go) have quietly built a reputation for delivering some of the hottest live Tropical dance-floor orientated music currently in the UK. A passion for the music of Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean led the ten piece to dig deep into the rhythms and melodies that connect these equatorial regions, creating a unique take that is inspired, joyful and respectful. Over the years support has grown and the band has been promoted by many in the scene who have recognised the skill and genuine love they have for the music they play. Live performances at Sofrito events and favourites at Shambala’s Barrio Afrika stage, recordings for SoundWay Records and the inclusion of their songChupacabra on Mr. Scruffs’ Record Kicks compilation have bought wider recognition. The band perform all of their own music (with the occasional cover) and have recently been joined live by Luzmira Zerpa for some firing performances at Tonnau Festival and Shambala.
