Zoo Soundbath by Alaska Sonic Arts

Immerse your mind and body in a Soundbath of peaceful nature sounds and soothing elements in the spacious Alaska Zoo Gateway Hall led by Jim Pfeiffenberger of Alaska Sonic Arts. Jim lives in Seward but is coming to Anchorage to lead this meditative time for those who are looking to achieve complete relaxation. We are excited to host Jim at the zoo for this event!

Event Details:

• Location: Alaska Zoo Gateway Hall
• Date: Thursday evening, February 6th, 2025
• Time: 7pm-8pm with 30 minutes following for a slow transition before leaving.
• Price: $50 plus a small online fee for processing.
• Entry: Tickets must be purchased in advance online.
• Age: Attendees must be age 14 and over, able to lay still and quietly for just over one hour. No younger attendees are allowed, only ticketed attendees age 14 and up.
• Tickets are non-refundable.

What to bring with you:

• A yoga mat, camping pad or thermarest pad - any comfortable pad for laying down for just over an hour.
• Loose fitting and comfortable clothing
• A pillow and/or blanket if you wish
• Zero gravity folding chairs or other ways to stay comfortable welcome. If you have questions, feel free to reach out to us.
• Eye masks, water bottle optional

What is a Soundbath?

A Soundbath is an immersive, meditative event where participants are "bathed" in sounds produced by various instruments, such as chimes, flutes, gongs, crystal bowls, and Himalayan bronze bowls among others. The intention is to create a soothing, continuous wash of sound and vibration that induces deep relaxation and a sense of well-being. Soundbaths have been known to reduce heart and respiratory rate, relieve stress, and enhance mental clarity and focus, among other benefits.
What happens at a Soundbath?

Participants typically lie down in a comfortable position on the floor, using a pad or mat, a pillow, and perhaps a blanket for comfort. Wearing comfortable, loose-fitting clothing is recommended, and personal items such as a water bottle or eye pillow may also come in handy. After a brief verbal introduction, the sounds will begin and continue for approximately one hour. Some prefer to use the name "Sound Journey," since the mind is often transported away, or "Sound Immersion" since the vibrations are often felt as much as heard. "Soundbath" refers to the cleansing nature of the experience for many participants.

What is Alaska Sonic Arts and who is Jim Pfeiffenberger?

Jim Pfeiffenberger is a lifelong educator and musician who has turned his attention to meditative music and immersive sound events in the last decade. He has been conducting Soundbaths around Alaska for the last four years and has a strong belief in the power of music and sound to move us emotionally and spiritually. He has completed accredited coursework in Sound Therapy recognized by the Complementary Therapists Accredited Association (CTAA.) His sound work has been presented at venues ranging from yoga studios in Seward, Soldotna, and Juneau to large conference halls in Anchorage. He lives in Seward, Alaska. Jim started Alaska Sonic Arts as a business entity which is dedicated to providing high quality music and sound experiences around the state of Alaska and beyond.
