Your Story - a reflective writing group

4-part series, March 8, 15, 22, and 29 from 9-11 am.

Looking for ways to connect with people and thrive through the last few weeks of our Rochester winter? If you're seeking personal growth, creative expression, and meaningful community, join us for four Sunday mornings in March to reflect on your lived experience through guided writing and small-group sharing.

Each week, you will write a 2-page essay inspired by a provided list of prompts developed by the Birren Center for Autobiographical Studies. This writing is done outside of class, and the prompts cover universal themes like spirituality, money, gender and sexuality, work and life's purpose, family, and death and dying.

Classes begin with 45 minutes of guided writing exercises and an introduction to the next week's theme, then each person reads their essay to the group and receives supportive feedback on what they've shared.

Hearing the lived stories of others across age, background, race, gender, and beliefs enables you to stretch beyond your own experience and see the world from different angles.

In a world where dehumanization and division are rampant, this experience offers a small but meaningful counterforce of connection.
