THE DETAILS:
Are you Burly-curious?! Have you ever wanted to take the stage on your own but aren’t sure where to start? Ever wonder what goes into the creation of a fabulous, personal solo striptease? Well, then you’re in for a treat because SPANKSY! & CeCe Bombay of Pretty Kitties Burlesque are here to show you the ropes of creating your own special signature act! We’ll go over all the tips n tricks we’ve learned throughout the years of experience we’ve had as Burlesque performers to help you create something unique and special, and truly your own. Throughout this 12 week course, we will cover a range of topics, from burlesque history, classic bumps n grinds, costuming and make up, and all the nitty gritty in between.
CLASS BREAK-DOWN:
This class will be offered both Tuesday and Thursday evenings, so sign up for the day that works best for your schedule! Class sessions will look a little different every week, as we cover different aspects of putting together a burlesque solo act. Most weeks will include a lecture and/or some movement/hands-on practice, followed by some time to discuss and workshop your act ideas with the group.
In order to get the most out of this session, plan to spend some time outside of class putting together your solo act. We will include suggested “homework” at the end of every class to have ready for the next week to keep you on track.
WHAT TO WEAR AND BRING?
Class attire is anything you can comfortably move in and feel good! And while we love a sexy heel, we go barefoot or do a dance shoe in the studio, in order to preserve the floor. Bring a notebook to take notes!
PRICING, LOCATION, MISC.
Class is open to all levels of dancer and all walks of adventurous, daring people! While a familiarity of dance vocabulary is always helpful, it’s not necessary as we always will break things down and offer any needed modifications or more advanced options.
Classes are located at Kinections Studio, 718 University Ave. Register for the full session for $200 - drop in classes are NOT available for this session. Payment is by cash, Venmo (@LeahCamilleri) or check to Leah Camilleri. Payment is due by the first week of class in full, or you can opt to pay in four installments ($50 payments due week 1, 3, 5, and 7).
....AND PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITY?!
This class also has an optional (but HIGHLY encouraged) performance opportunity on Saturday, May 30th at 8pm at the Rose Room (295 Gregory Rd). This show is designed to celebrate YOU and to show off the act you create over the course of the session! There will be a dress rehearsal for the show on Saturday, May 23rd from 11-12:30 so you can get a feel for the venue and stage prior to the show.

Price: Sliding scale $150-$200
Location: Max’s home (around the corner from the studio.)
Setup: There will be a partially staged set with a black backdrop.
When: Saturday April 25th & Sunday April 26th 1:30pm-6pm (9 slots available each day)
What You Get: 3 edited, digital images of your choice (with the opportunity to purchase more!)
