A series of events as part of a project with Libraries Connected and Good Things Foundation to test ways of sharing information about AI.
About this Event

Help us test some ideas to share information about the pros and cons of AI. Some events will be practical, looking at specific AI tools or applications. Others will be more general sharing of information.

All will provide some pointers to where to find more, reliable, information (such as the AI Gateway from Good Things Foundation). All the sessions will end with a brief evaluation so we can feedback to our partners.

Introduction to AI - Monday 2 February - ICT Suite 6 (Level 4 City Library) - 10.30am

At this session we will speak about the various types of AI that are currently being used, some we use everyday without thinking about it and others that are creating things that create headlines. We will also have a try at a couple of AI tools to see what all the fuss is about.

Introduction to Google Lens - Tuesday 3 February - Bewick Hall (Level 2 City Library) - 10.30am

Come and try a practical AI tool that is already freely available. It can identify, translate or recommend depending on the information you present to it. During the session we will try several variations to see what it can. and can't, do.

Introduction to Generative AI - Wednesday 4 February - ICT Suite 6 (Level 4 City Library) - 10.30am

We'll have a look at generative (creative) AI and try a couple of ways AI can be used as a helper in creative writing. We'll also find out how well it can write for itself.
