Young Radicals & Mentors 'Meet & Match' Networking, Lunch & Planning Day

This is our first time coming together as a full group and it’s designed to feel welcoming, relaxed and genuinely enjoyable. The day is about having fun, making connections, and setting strong foundations in a way that feels safe, human and pressure-free.

This day is for Young Radicals and volunteer mentors who will be part of the programme. It’s a shared space to meet each other as people first, before talking about goals, support and next steps.

The morning will be interactive and light-hearted, with games, challenges and creative activities designed to help everyone relax, laugh a bit, and get to know each other at a comfortable pace. You’ll work in pairs and small groups, with plenty of choice, breaks and no pressure to share more than you want to.

We’ll clearly explain what the programme offers and how it works, including the role of Radical Recruit, mentors, and Young Radicals. We’ll be clear that Young Radicals stay in control of their own goals, boundaries and support, and that mentors are there to walk alongside, not lead or fix.

We’ll talk openly about expectations, consent, communication and confidentiality. This includes how we keep each other safe, how to ask for help, how to take space when needed, and how support is put in place if things feel difficult.

Through fun, practical activities, you’ll start exploring goals, communication styles and what good support looks like for you. These activities help us notice where connections feel natural and where mentor matches and wider support bubbles might work best.

We’ll break for a relaxed pizza lunch, with time to chat, rest, or take some quiet time if that’s what you need.

We’ll finish by agreeing mentor matches and support bubbles, followed by a gentle planning workshop so everyone leaves feeling clear, supported, and excited about what comes next.
