Free antenatal sessions for pregnant parents (aged 20 and under) to help prepare for a healthy pregnancy, birth and life as a new parent.

YOUNG PARENTS ANTENATAL INFORMATION SESSIONS - FEBRUARY 2027
DATES: Wednesdays 3rd, 10th, 17th February
TIME: 2:30-4:00pm (includes breaks and refreshments)
LOCATION: Southernhay Youth Centre, 16-20 Southernhay, Basildon SS14 1FN (opposite the old Toys R Us, where the midwife clinic is)

SUITABLE FOR: Suitable for pregnant mums/birthing people who are aged 20 and under. We recommend coming along to these sessions from when you're 30 weeks pregnant (at the start of the sessions). Expecting a baby? Join our friendly, supportive antenatal information sessions especially designed for young parents. Learn about pregnancy, birth, newborn care & life as a new parent in a relaxed, welcoming space where you can build confidence and meet other parents on the same journey.

These sessions will be led by a lived-experience peer supporter and specialist teen midwives. These professionals can offer you expert, non-judgemental support. And because they're local to you, they know how things work in your area and where to signpost if you need any extra help or information.

What to expect from our sessions:

• A relaxed, non-medical setting
• Sessions take place over just three weeks
• A friendly, non-judgemental space where you can ask questions and share any worries you may have
• The chance to meet other local parents-to-be
• The option to join a WhatsApp group run by our peer supporters, used for sharing extra info and tips
• Invitations to other meet-up groups and local events

What you'll learn about:

• Session 1: You and your wellbeing (learn about healthy eating, keeping active, understanding your changing body, and emotional wellbeing)
• Session 2: Preparing for labour and birth (learn how to manage contractions, what to pack in your hospital bag, different birth positions, making birth plans and how to manage your birthing expectations)
• Session 3: Practical baby care (learn about feeding your baby, nappy changing, how to bath your baby, safe sleep, and travelling with your baby)

Dads and birth partners are very welcome to come along too (please book a space for each person attending).
