About this Event

Young Minds Dance Connection | School Holiday Program

Young Minds Dance Connection is a two-day therapeutic School Holiday Program designed for young people aged 8-12 who are at risk of developing a mental health challenge. This program provides a safe, supportive and structured environment where participants can connect with peers, build confidence, and develop practical skills to support their emotional wellbeing.

Young Minds Dance Connection is a fun, supportive space where participants can creatively express their thoughts and feelings, build confidence and connect with others. Dance tasks, movement games, pictures and stories are used to explore different ideas around creating a positive mindset, growing your self-belief, bouncing back when we have setbacks and boosting your wellbeing.

We also incorporate mindfulness activities such as artistic journaling and yoga to teach strategies for self-care and to cope when worried or overwhelmed.

Through therapeutic group activities, young people will work on:

  • Building resilience and emotional regulation
  • Developing social skills, communication and healthy self-expression
  • Strengthening confidence and self-awareness
  • Learning positive coping strategies
  • Building connection and a sense of belonging
