Five concertos are showcased in this, our third concert of this season!Following an opening performance of Prokofiev’s remarkable Symphony No. 1, popularly known as the “Classical,” the talented Ventura County winners of this year's Young Artists Series perform movements from concertos by Haydn, Mozart, Vieuxtemps, and Rachmaninoff.
The earliest work performed by our young artists is Mozart’s Oboe Concerto in C major, written in 1777 when the composer was 21, while the newest work is Rachmaninoff’s “Vocalise,” composed in 1912.
Also on the program are Haydn’s Piano Concerto No. 11, Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 19, and Vieuxtemps’ Violin Concerto No. 4.
The concert concludes with Rachmaninoff’s magnificent Piano Concerto No. 3.
