About this Event
In this jam-packed two week summer camp, young artists will have the opportunity to explore tons of art materials and seriously develop their skills and abilities in art.
Our skilled art instructors will ignite your child’s passion for art with an awesomely creative itinerary featuring drawing, painting, ceramics, animation, photography, and more!
Young Artist Summer Camp is intended for ages 6-12. YASC runs every weekday during the session from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Drop-off begins at 8:45 AM.
General Camp Itinerary
Each day, campers will split into three groups by age. In these learning groups, we prioritize individualized instruction—at any given time, our camp features a 1:6 instructor to camper ratio. Each group cycles through the designated artsy projects of the day! Each day, there are also opportunities for all campers to participate in games, crafts, and artistic learning in a large collaborative group setting.
July 13th - Introductions! MYO Sketchbook, Tie Dye T-Shirts, and Start Ceramics Projects
July 14th - Character Creation for Animation, Oil Pastel Still Life, and Batiking
July 15th - Drawing Animation Backgrounds, Continue Ceramics Projects, and Self Portraits
July 16th - Linocut Printmaking, Puppet Making, and Animating
July 17th - Linocut Printmaking, Puppet Making, and Animating
July 20th - Linocut Printmaking, Cyanotype Photography, and Animating
July 21st - Glazing Ceramics Projects, Plein Air Drawing, and Animating
July 22nd - Digital Photography, Collage Chimeras, and Animating
July 23rd - FIELD TRIP DAY!
July 24th - Preparing for the Art Show, Finishing Animations, and Finishing All Projects!
Please note that this camp itinerary is based on the 2025 summer camp schedule. The camp itinerary is subject to change!
Each session of YASC features one field trip to a local museum, gallery, park, or art installation. This year, we will be visiting a NEW prominent art installation in an exciting new environment. More news to come soon!
At the end of the session, our students will have the opportunity to display their art at the YASC end of session art show. Friends and families are encouraged to come support their young artist!

Accessibility
Locust Street Art is located in a historic building with eight steps to access our main entrance. A side entrance is available for students with limited mobility—this entrance has four steps to access our main hallway. We are currently fundraising to make our building more accessible. Please contact us if you have concerns related to accessibility so we can try to make accommodations. Limited free parking is available on the street.
