York Viking Self-Guided Treasure Hunt

Follow Eric Bloodaxe, the last Viking King of Jorvik around the city & help him find his lost treasure, in this interactive chat-based Treasure Hunt!

Perfect for couples, groups & families alike, the York Viking Hunt is a great way to have fun and discover the city at the same time.

You’ll pass many of the main landmarks, as well as uncover hidden corners and gems that are off the tourist trail in the hunt for lost treasure!

You’ll join a chat on your phone with Eric Bloodaxe. Eric will guide you around York and give you riddles you need to solve. These riddles will relate to objects on the route and the answers will uncover the treasure.

The hunt takes around 1 hour, but feel free to take longer and have a break in the middle if you’d like!

The route is on public streets, but we recommend doing the hunt during the day.

You just need a smartphone with data & an internet browser to be able to access the chat.

Anyone! This is a fun activity for anyone who wants to discover York and uncover a little bit of history along the way. You can play against each other in teams, or all together.

Eric will take you around the historic centre of York and down secret ‘snickleways‘ too. The route is on public streets & in parks, but please bear in mind there are cobbled streets and uneven surfaces along the way.
