About this Event
Wednesdays, April 16 – 30
6:00 – 8:00 p.m
Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra includes 196 concise statements that thread together the many diverse teachings of yoga. This workshop series explores the three sutras that outline Kriya-yoga, the last three personal practices (Niyamas) defined by Patanjali. Tapas (discipline), Svadhyaya (self-study), and Ishvara Pranidhana (surrender) are a set of synergistic tools that bring about inner change.
A synergistic blend of theory and practice, each session brings to life a vital teaching of the Yoga Sutra. Emphasizing direct experience, these practices explore powerful themes while weaving together asana, pranayama, and meditation practices.
Designed for students and teachers of all levels interested in deepening their practice of living yoga on and off the mat.
Michele Crawford was first introduced to yoga by her mother when she was a young child. As an adult, Michele began a formal yoga practice when seeking a means to release stress and take better care of herself.
With a background in public health, Michele has worked in health education for over ten years and has taught a variety of topics including nutrition, reproductive health, and trauma informed care. With time, it became evident she longed to merge her passions of health education and yoga.
In 2016, Michele began teaching children’s yoga after completing certification with Global Family yoga. Michele’s work with children focuses on sharing pranayama, asana, and meditation with middle school children who experience anxiety, depression, and ADD-ADHD.
Michele’s yoga journey evolved through 250-hour and 500-hour teacher trainings at Prairie Yoga. She enjoys sharing yoga with diverse audiences, including NAMI and Heartland Alliance. Michele meets students where they are, offering modifications, sharing yoga philosophies, and encouraging them to apply their practice in daily life.
