Yoga & Book ClubA monthly yoga and book club, helping you carve out time for yourself.
Each monthly we'll read a book (not yoga related), or indeed listen to it as an audiobook if you prefer. Then come along to a chilled out evening, where we'll do a little gentle yoga, have a chat about the book, and then finish with a guided relaxation to end the evening.
Plus there will be tea and chocolate/treats.
These yoga & book club evenings are be relaxed and low pressure - part book club, part easing your body, part relaxation, part easy-going social event.

~ Our first book is (drum roll!)....
‘Wintering: The power of rest and retreat in difficult times‘ by Katherine May.
I've chosen it as it's a great seasonal read, it's a memoir (which I always love), female writer (obvs), and I've heard great things about it. Its' a Sunday Times and a New York Times bestseller. Also I got given it for Christmas last year, but am still to read it! So this is my nudge to do so! I know some people read it every year, so even if you have already read it, you could re-read it.
And Caitline Moran said 'My favourite book of the last five years' - which is a pretty good endorsement in my world!
A little about the book....
Wintering is a poignant and comforting meditation on the fallow periods of life, times when we must retreat to care for and repair ourselves. Katherine May thoughtfully shows us how to come through these times with the wisdom of knowing that, like the seasons, our winters and summers are the ebb and flow of life.
A moving personal narrative interwoven with lessons from literature, mythology and the natural world, May's story offers instruction on the transformative power of rest and retreat. Illumination emerges from many sources: solstice celebrations and dormice hibernation, C.S. Lewis and Sylvia Plath, swimming in icy waters and sailing arctic seas.
Ultimately, Wintering invites us to change how we relate to our own fallow times. May models an active acceptance of sadness and finds nourishment in deep retreat, joy in the hushed beauty of winter, and encouragement in understanding life as cyclical, not linear. A secular mystic, May forms a guiding philosophy for transforming the hardships that arise before the ushering in of a new season.

Hope you can make it. Any questions just let me know. And yes you can still come (of course) even if you don't finish the whole book. This is a low pressure book club!
My aim is that leave the evening feeling the evening that you've had some time for yourself - both to read during the month, and to replenish yourself.
