Whether you’re brand new to yoga, returning to practice after a lengthy break, or simply interested in building your understanding and confidence in practice, our Yoga 101 series is for you!In this 6 week series, you will gain the skills and knowledge to confidently practice yoga in a class setting. We will cover fundamental postures, breathing techniques, and yoga etiquette. The course will also briefly explore yoga history, philosophy, and anatomy.
While it’s easy to find free yoga classes online, this series gives you the opportunity to ask questions, receive feedback, practice in an energetic group setting, and dive deeper into understanding yoga’s physical and mental benefits.
Each week will build on the previous and highlight a different aspect of yoga practice through hatha style practice and discussions. Sign up for the entire series, or for individual classes.
Beginning a yoga practice requires only curiosity and the willingness to learn - so join us on your mat! Absolutely all bodies and experience levels welcome.
Course Outline:
Week 1: BUILD A FOUNDATION: Yoga Definitions, Essential Postures & Breathing
Week 2: START SLOW: Warm-ups & Therapeutic Exercises
Week 3: MOVE THE SPINE: Back Bends, Forward Bends, Side Bends, and Twists
Week 4: FIND CENTER: Balance & Concentration
Week 5: SUN SALUTATIONS: Stretch, Strengthen, & Flow
Week 6: MOVE FROM THE OUTSIDE IN: Mindfulness & Meditation
