About this Event
The YESS Spring Youth Climate Festival is a student-centered celebration of creativity, learning, and climate leadership. The festival will be held from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, May 17 at the UW-Tacoma William Philip Hall and is FREE to attend!
The festival brings together community across Pierce County to experience stories and visions of a positive climate future and current climate actions through art, performance, film, writing, and community projects.
At the heart of this festival is the belief that climate change isn’t only a scientific issue but a human one that we all feel and experience. Students aged 14-22 are invited to explore how climate change affects their lives, communities, and futures – and to imagine the positive climate future they want to see.
The festival will feature:
- A juried exhibition of student climate storytelling across multiple art forms including visual art, film, spoken and written word, and performance
- A Climate Action Poster Symposium, where students present real-world actions they have taken individually or collaboratively
- Live performances, screenings, and discussions with students that encourage dialogue and connection
- Opportunities for learning, reflection and peer-to-peer inspiration
By centering student voices, the festival aims to build an understanding of climate change, foster hope and agency to act, and create a space where stories and actions come together to inspire change.
