Workshop OverviewThis immersive weekend is designed for photographers who want to understand light — not just locations. We’ll work with sunrise and sunset angles that consistently deliver clean colour, texture, and depth, while building confidence in both capture and editing.

Sunrise vs sunset colour theory
Shooting with the sun, not against it
Camera & tripod setup for low light
7:30pm | Optional Group Dinner – Caves House, Yallingup Relaxed welcome dinner (at own cost).
Optional Astrophotography & Light Painting Sessions
Friday Night – 8 May
If conditions are clear, we’ll offer an optional astrophotography session after dinner.
The moon rises at approximately 10:39pm
This allows a window to photograph the Milky Way rising before moonlight impacts the sky
Participants are welcome to:
Capture the Milky Way
Experiment with light painting techniques
Ask questions around astro settings, focus, and composition
Anyone willing or wanting to partake in astrophotography or light painting is more than welcome.
Location will be confirmed on the night based on cloud cover and wind conditions.
Saturday– 9 May
Sunrise – Castle Rock (Dunsborough) | East‑Facing
Clean sunrise colour
Granite texture & side‑light
Composition fundamentals
Breakfast / coffee break
Late Morning – Canal Rocks
Long exposure techniques
Reading swell & wave timing
Foreground control
Lunch break
Afternoon Technique Session
Wide vs tight compositions
Filter use (and when not to use them)
Sharpness in wind
Shooting with editing in mind
Sunset – Injidup / Smiths Beach Area | West / South‑West Side‑lighting across limestone shelves.
Optional Dinner – Gourmet Burgers (Dunsborough) Casual group dinner
Saturday Night – 9 May
A second optional astro / light painting session will be available for those keen.
The moon rises later, at approximately 11:30pm
This provides another opportunity for:
Milky Way photography
Light painting foreground elements
Refining techniques from Friday night
Again, participation is completely optional and weather dependent.

Sunrise – Quindalup / Dunsborough Coast | East‑Facing
Soft pastel sunrise tones
Refining compositions
Shooting with intention
Editing & Workflow Session Venue: Dunsborough Community Hall
