YA HORROR PANEL WITH YUVASHRI HARISH, STEPHANIE KUEHN AND HANNAH JAYNE
About this Event
PETALUMA --
Copperfield's Books is thrilled (and a bit scared!) to have this panel of accomplished YA horror writers - Yuvashri Harish, Stephanie Kuehn and Hannah Jayne here, just before Halloween. They'll be in conversation with local horror expert Ross Lockhart, of Word Horde Emporium!
So, what are the books about?
K*ll Your Darlings: A teen girl faces the horrors of misogyny and racism--plus an evil witch and her horde of monsters--in this fun, fast-paced thriller.
We Did Nothing Wrong: Lia and Diana are the "it girls" of Empire Hill High. Their lives are perfect....until Diana disappears and the rumors start flying.
M**der She Wrote: The final installment in the suspenseful, modern update of the classic mystery TV series. Perfect for fans of One of Us Is Lying, Sadie, and Gossip Girl.
“K*ll Your Darlings made me laugh, cry, swoon, and hold my breath. It’s gothic and enchanting, unafraid to throw several punches and has twists I didn't see coming.” – Jamison Shea, author of I Feed Her to the Beast
We Did Nothing Wrong...Rapid fire and emotionally intense, with realistically complex and dynamic characters, Jayne's latest mystery ramps up the suspense quickly and keeps it there... A dramatic and darkly intriguing mystery." -- School Library Journal
M**der She Wrote... "A gripping thriller with a winning protagonist." -- Kirkus Reviews
Yuvashri Harish writes speculative fiction for YA and adult audiences, featuring Tamil main characters in dramatic, magical, and often terrifying situations. Born on Tharawal land and now living on Gadigal land, she grew up borrowing twelve books a week from the library. She is deeply passionate about writing stories and creating worlds where brown girls are not just represented but are the protagonists of their own narrative. When she isn’t writing, she can usually be found eating pasta, watching Bob’s Burgers, and providing employment law advice and representation for disadvantaged and vulnerable people in New South Wales.
Stephanie Kuehn is a clinical psychologist and an award-winning author. She has written nine novels for teens, including Charm & Strange, which won the ALA’s 2014 William C. Morris Award for best debut young adult novel. Her second novel, Complicit, was named to YALSA’s 2015 Best Fiction for Young Adults list, and her third, Delicate Monsters, won the 2016 Northern California Book Award. In 2015, Stephanie was awarded the PEN/Phyllis Naylor Working Writer Fellowship for The Smaller Evil and in 2017, her fifth novel, When I Am Through With You, received a starred review from Kirkus and was also named an Amazon Best Book of the Month. Booklist has praised her work as “intelligent, compulsively readable literary fiction with a dark twist.”
Hannah Jayne lives in the San Francisco Bay Area and writes cozy mysteries, young adult fiction, chick lit, and grocery lists that she never seems to remember to bring to the grocery store. Hannah shares a house with two neurotic, feet-attacking cats and has Kryptonite-like weakness for donuts. Visit www.hannahjschwartz.com.
Ross E. Lockhart is an author, anthologist, and freelance editor. A lifelong fan of supernatural, fantastic, speculative, and weird fiction, Lockhart is a veteran of small-press publishing, having edited scores of well-regarded novels of horror, fantasy, and science fiction.
