Petaluma River Full Moon Paddle (Hunter's Moon!)
This early-evening full moon paddle marks a seasonal turning point. The moon rises about half an hour before sunset, giving us a rare and beautiful dusk paddle out to our viewing spot as daylight softens and moonlight takes over. It’s a gentle invitation to slow down and soak up the glow during a week filled with community celebration.
The Hunter’s Moon is the full moon following the Harvest Moon, traditionally valued for its timing: harvested fields made prey easier to spot, and the moon’s long nights—rising at dusk and setting near dawn—offered precious light when it was most needed. These autumn moons remind us to be grateful for light, warmth, and one another as nights grow longer.
Paddle with us in comfortable, stay-dry Hobie pedal kayaks and let the moon lift your spirits (pun fully intended). Costumes welcome but optional. Calm, cozy, and just spooky-adjacent enough.
