About this Event
On this truly special trip, the idea is to combine hiking and visiting Nottingham's Christmas Market, recognised as one of the best in England!
We'll do a new route, featured in Britain’s Favourite 100 Walks, chosen by a group of experienced authors and guides, and presented by Julia Bradbury on ITV. The trail will take us to the wild and rugged Bradgate Park, with dramatic rocky outcrops and gnarled old oak trees, many of which are over 500 years old. Today, the medieval park is home to a 550-head herd of red and fallow deer, which roam freely. This is an excellent opportunity to get up close to them and take many amazing photos! 📸
On this hike, we'll visit two fantastic viewpoints with spectacular panoramic views. First, we'll climb to the iconic 18th-century folly of Old John Tower (212 metres), the highest point of Bradgate Park. Then, to the summit of Beacon Hill (248 metres), which is the second highest point in Leicestershire.
Having enjoyed some great hiking, we'll head to Nottingham's Christmas Market to soak up the wonderful festive atmosphere! We can warm up with a nice glass of mulled wine, sample delicious local foods, browse the extensive stalls for unique gift ideas or take a ride on the 32-metre Observation Wheel, enjoying breath-taking views of Nottingham. There is something to suit everyone's taste! You'll have time to walk to the famous Robin Hood Statue and Nottingham Castle, where the legendary outlaw was kept before he eventually managed to escape to Sherwood Forest, his hiding place.
