Set against the glowing backdrop of Grass Clippings Golf Course, this patriotic evening helps preserve one of Arizona’s most fascinating and lesser-known WWII stories — including the legendary “Great Papago Escape,” the largest POW escape in the United States during World War II.
Only two original Camp Papago POW huts survive today, making this preservation effort incredibly important to Arizona and American history.

Hosted in support of the Tempe Historic Preservation Foundation and the Arizona Historical Society.
