WWE NM: Bishops Cap Cave - Summer Cave Passport Series

Join us for the seventh event of our summer cave exploration series! Snag your passport if you don't have one and mark off another destination! We'll enjoy a sunrise as we explore this cave.

EVENT DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITY:
The seventh event of our summer cave passport series! Let's catch a sunrise as we hike to find this super cool cave at bishops cap! We will ONLY be going to the cave, not the peak as the weather is way too hot right now to get all the way up to the peak. The hike to the cave is approximately 3 - 3.5 miles with a few hundred feet of elevation gain. The trail is quite steep and rocky and not very well maintained. It's a good idea to bring gloves for any potential bushwacking we might do. It's also advised to wear pants.

I will offer a caravan from the road right off of the highway (same spot for those that went to the last hike at Pena Blanca) on Road B059. We will leave from there at 5:15 am!

WHAT TO BRING:

• Good hiking boots

• Trekking poles for steep loose areas

• Day Pack

• Gloves

• Gaitor/mask if you are sensitive for dust

• Appropriate layers (sunshirts)

• H2O to stay hydrated at least 2 liters

• Snacks (to refuel your body)

• First aid kit

• Hats, sunglasses, sunscreen
