About this Event
In this 2-hour fiction workshop, Simon will cover his ‘six steps’ to maintaining a long-term writing process. Simon will address techniques to unearth stories, bring characters to life, develop, deepen, and layer the narrative. He will discuss metaphor, language, dialogue, tone, pacing, line-editing, time (flashbacks), and voice, using examples to illustrate each point so that every writer feels confident when applying each technique to their own work. Simon will also suggest ways to balance a writing practice with the demands of everyday life and suggest ideas to stay focused—as writers rarely work under ideal conditions. The goal of the workshop is for each participant to have greater confidence in their own writing abilities, and to have fresh ideas, motivation, and a clear path ahead.
