About this Event
This workshop will help students write a clear and compelling abstract, with strategies that can be applied broadly to academic publishing, conference submissions, and research presentations.
Participants will also learn how to prepare and submit an abstract for the Open Research and Creative Activities (ORCA) Forum. The event is presented by the Graduate Writing Center and the UCR Library.
The Open Research and Creative Activities (ORCA) Forum is a quarterly UCR event and highlights outstanding student research and creative projects from across disciplines and academic levels at UC Riverside, with an emphasis on interdisciplinary work and open scholarship.
During this session, participants will learn how to structure an effective abstract, clearly communicate the goals and significance of their work, and align their submission with the ORCA Forum’s focus on sharing research artifacts such as code, documentation, data, or multimedia through open access repositories. The workshop will also cover submission requirements and tips for preparing a strong proposal for conferences in general and the ORCA Forum specifically.
Whether you are preparing a research project, creative work, or interdisciplinary collaboration, this workshop will help you turn your work into a strong abstract ready for submission to conferences in general and the ORCA Forum specifically.
All UCR community members are welcome to attend. Make sure to register with your UCR email. Participants are expected to follow and uphold UC Riverside's Principles of Community.
