About Atabeya:

Based on Atabey/Atabeira, the Taino Goddess-Mother; spirit of running water, music, beauty, and fertility

Led by New Paltz native guitarist/composer, Josh Towers. Atabeya provides a spicy blend of roots music with a fresh outlook. Pulling influence from many rhythms and tonalities of the African and Latin diasporas in the Americas as well as popular modern West African styles ranging from Haitian Jazz/Kompa, Cumbia, and Bachata to Afrobeat, Saharan Blues/Rock, and Soukous all mixed in with funky rhythms and psychedelic sounds to make for an all-encompassing, cerebral musical experience that is also irresistibly danceable.

Hashishen:

Based in Poughkeepsie, Hashishen is a Palestinian musician performing all over the NY scene for the last 6 years. Through his efforts he has most recently opened for the award winning band Mokoomba, featured on multiple radio shows in the area, and became resident DJ at; Bacchus (New Paltz) , and Reason&Ruckus (Poughkeepsie). Through his background as a jazz saxophonist and computer technician with a passion for electronic music, he uses a large blend of influences and alternative techniques to create more flow and a feel of improvisation with his sets.
