Celebrate World Horse Day with a special day of art, history, and horses at the International Museum of the Horse! 🐴 Meet miniature horses and mounted police officers, watch artists at work, enjoy screenings of Horse Power by SK Films, discover the new Year of the Horse display in the museum lobby, and hear from renowned archaeologist and author Dr. Will Taylor during a special EquineEd lecture. Activities are included with Kentucky Horse Park admission, with additional experiences taking place throughout the day in and around the museum.

Raku Horse Hair Pottery Demonstration with Mike Middleton
Watch ceramic artist Mike Middleton create one-of-a-kind pottery using traditional raku firing techniques and wild mustang hair to produce distinctive patterns inspired by horses and the natural world.

Mini & Pony Meet and Greet with Central Kentucky Riding for Hope
Meet friendly miniature horses and ponies from Central Kentucky Riding for Hope and learn how therapeutic equine programs enrich the lives of children and adults with special needs.

Chinese Ink Painting Demonstration & Interactive Experience with Ming Xuan Talley
Watch award-winning artist Ming Xuan Talley bring horses to life through traditional Chinese ink painting. Guests of all ages are invited to try their hand at brushwork and create their own ink-inspired artwork.

EquineEd Lecture with Dr. Will Taylor
Join archaeologist and Hoof Beats author Dr. Will Taylor as he explores how horses transformed human history, drawing on groundbreaking discoveries in archaeology and genetics.

Kentucky Horse Park Mounted Police Meet and Greet
Meet officers of the Kentucky Horse Park Mounted Police and their equine partners and learn about the important role they play in keeping the park safe year-round.
