Workshop on “Analysis and Applications of NGS data for Microbial and Animal Genomics Research”
Objectives of the Workshop
· To provide the participants with fundamental concepts in Genomics Research.
· To familiarize the participants with various tools in sequence analysis, NGS data processing, phylogenetics and genomics work flow.
Contents: The broad areas to be covered during various sessions include lectures, practical demonstrations and hands-on training which will be based on the following themes:
I. Overview: Bioinformatics and Genomics
II. Various databases, sequence retrieval &
submission and analysis
III. Next Generation Sequencing workflows
IV. Eukaryotic and Prokaryotic Genomics
V. Microbial metagenomics and Pangenome
Topics such as analysis of NGS sequence data, prediction of virulence genes and antibiotic resistance genes in bacterial genomes, multi locus sequence typing of microbes, eukaryotic genomics and genomics based selection, etc., will be covered in the workshop.
The participants will be familiarized with proprietary software DNASTAR Lasergene NGS suite and open source software such as MEGA, Galaxy server, PLINK, etc. In addition, participants will also be exposed to the proprietary molecular docking software Biovia Discovery studio.
