Workshop Summary:
It’s that critical moment: You’ve got the audience in the palm of your hand. They’ve been with you for everything leading up to this moment. Quickly, you fill that space with a comment, a quip, maybe a joke. Suddenly, the tension is broken. You might get a quick laugh. You might get a response. However, if you take that moment and really let it land, you’ll have an improviser’s ultimate joy – the long laugh, the heartfelt sigh of an entire audience, perhaps tears if the moment is truly touching. But how do you get past that desire to fill every moment with words? In this workshop, Kathy and Joe Rinaldi of ImprompTwo Improv, will not only lead you through exercises to find those moments of quiet (whether it’s a glance or a walk across the stage), they'll also help you become comfortable with doing so. NOTE: Being funny is not required in this workshop.
Workshop fee: $50 advance / $60 door
About ImprompTwo:
ImprompTwo has been performing and teaching both genre and narrative improv for more than seven years at festivals around the world (Norway, Sweden, Paris, the UK, Bulgaria, the Netherlands) and across the United States and Canada. Both members of ImprompTwo bring years of experience in producing and performing theatre in New York and Canada, and bring that sensibility to their improv scenes, which are known for beautiful silences, quick banter, and passion. Joe is a professional actor and was formerly Artistic Director of Firedrake Productions in New York. Kathy is a published and produced playwright in New York and Toronto.
