Workshop - Archives of Identity: Past and Present
About the Workshop
Archives of Identity: Past and Present is a workshop exploring memory, migration, identity, and belonging through photographs, personal materials, drawing, writing, and conversation.
Participants are welcome to bring a photograph, letter, document, object, or another personal item connected to memory or family history, but this is completely optional.
Together, we will also think about what an archive of the present could be through photographs, writing, drawing, audio, video, and other forms of personal documentation. Depending on participants’ interests, there may also be opportunities to experiment with analogue photography, film, and sound.
The workshop is especially open to people with migration experiences and migrant family histories in Hamburg. Everyone is welcome, no artistic or technical experience is required, and the workshop will be held in English.
Participation is free and places are limited.
About the Project
Archives of Identity: Past and Present is a research-based artistic project by filmmaker and visual artist Razi Uddin. It explores collective memory through family stories, archives, oral history and migration histories.
