Sacramento was a company town, and that company was the Central Pacific (later Southern Pacific). We have the "Octopus" bigwigs like Mark Hopkins and Charles Crocker, and upper management types. We also have contractors and suppliers, detectives, people who worked at the railroad shops, and train engineers, brakeman, and porters.Notes: - These are walking tours. Please wear comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing. Tours are not typically canceled due to weather.- Parking is available on the street or at the Riverside Target. We recommend avoiding parking in the Selland's lot across the street from the cemetery to reduce the risk of being towed.
- The Old City Cemetery Committee, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to raising funds for the restoration and repair of historic monuments and headstones at Sacramento's "Old City Cemetery." We also aim to educate the community about the fascinating lives of our eternal residents. Your ticket purchase may be tax deductible. Tax ID: 06-1674455.
