Work-In-Progress Screening of "Love Is A Stranger"
About this Event
In the middle of a war that made them enemies, a Filipina woman and a Japanese soldier fell in love but he vanished before their son was born. Now, his granddaughter — a Filipina-American filmmaker — must bring her aging father to Japan for the first and last time to find the man who has haunted their family for three generations.
The screening will be followed by a short talk with SamaSama Project Artistic Director Lou Ella Rose on the film, including questions around Filipino and Filipino-American identity, mental health and intergenerational trauma.
Snacks will be provided and specially crafted drinks by the incredible team at CEBU CHICAGO will be available for purchase.
The film team is grateful to ILLINOIS ARTS COUNCIL for supporting the event.
