Woodshop - Lathe Orientation

In-person orientation to the wood lathes. This class covers the basic parts of the lathe and operation of the machines.
About this Event

Orientation to the wood lathe is intended for MakeIt Labs members who are first-time wood turners interested in learning wood turning. In this one hour orentation we will cover basic operation the machines, safely mounting wood for spindle (two-point) turning, and safey practices while turning. We will also go over the equipment avaialable for members, and some basic principels of wood turning. The goal by the end of the class will be for you to have the basic understanding needed to safely use the lathe and how to approach your first projects.
No prior experience needed. No materials are needed.
After the orentation, time premitting, the instructor will be avaialble for additional instruction or help on projects.
