About this Event
Join Forest Therapy Practitioner and wildflower expert Poppy Wildman for a mindful and informative wander through the woodlands and meadows of Rushcliffe Country, discovering the identification, folklore and traditional and modern uses for a range of wildflowers, as well as discussing conservation elements and the importance of these species for biodiversity and the overall health of our planet.
Wildflowers are vital to pollinators, and many have also been used for thousands of years as traditional herbal medicines. It is also undeniable that the range of colours and scents that these wildflowers provide are deeply pleasing to human beings, and support our sense of overall wellbeing.
This event aims to more deeply connect participants to the natural world through both mindful and informative elements, through the medium of getting to know the wildflowers that are abundant across our natural spaces this time of year. It is a chance to slow down, spend some time in nature in a friendly group, and hopefully learn a thing or two about our wildflowers!
While mindful elements will be incorporated throughout, participants will also have the chance to experience 'Forest Bathing'* in our provide woodlands, and enjoy a cup of freshly foraged spring tea.
Schedule:
- Meet and introduction
- Wildflower Wander
- Forest Bathing invitation
- Tea and reflections
All elements are entirely optional - this is all about you feeling good in nature!
*What is Forest Bathing?
Forest Bathing, or ‘shinrin yoku’ in Japanese, is the wonderfully restorative, mindfulness-based practice of immersing oneself in the forest, woodland or any green space, using your senses to connect to the natural world around you.
The event will be guided by a qualified Forest Therapy Practitioner. Additional information will be sent out to all attendees 2 days before the event by email - if you have not received it by then, please check your spam then message me at [email protected].
Please see FAQs below for information on accessibility, parking and other info. Any other questions, do not hesitate to get in touch.
