Gallery Talk with Madeline Ghent accompanied by wood block demonstrations by Paige KleinfelderArt Historian and Associated Artists of Pittsburgh Executive Director Madeline Gent will give an introduction to the traditional Japanese woodblock print process, as well as discuss the imagery and icons in the prints of the floating world. Madeline Gent has her masters in Art History and Archaeology from the University of Maryland where she specialized in Asian Art. For two years, she worked with the Smithsonian Museum of Asian Art on the digitization of the Pulverer Collection, one of the most outstanding and comprehensive collections of Japanese illustrated books outside Japan which consists of 2,200 volumes that range in date from the early seventeenth century to the 1970s.
