Womentum is proud to announce its 4th annual March Onward: A Celebration of Women, a signature event during Women’s History Month. The celebration honors Womentum’s role in fostering women’s leadership, as well as the Womentum alumnae who exemplify that leadership in the many ways they shape our community. This year’s March Onward comes full circle as Womentum applauds the release of Womentoring alumna Lindsay Linton Buk’s new book, Women Shaping the West: Stories from Wyoming. Part memoir, part storytelling, part photography book, and part creative process, Women Shaping the West is a powerful portrait of over 25 extraordinary contemporary women showcased through in-depth narratives, over 100 medium-format film photographs, 20 historical vignettes of women throughout Wyoming’s history, including the state’s suffrage story, and Lindsay’s creative process to produce the project. The book is the final piece of her larger body of work, which also includes a podcast and a traveling photography exhibit.
A decade ago, when Buk first began this ambitious project, Womentum served as her nonprofit fiscal sponsor, helping her build the foundation to bring the vision to life. Today, Womentum is honored to partner in the celebration of the project’s culmination through a dynamic panel discussion featuring Buk and a selection of the women she profiles.
Guests are invited to arrive at 5:30 pm for a pre-panel reception, a cash bar, the opportunity to meet the panelists, and a hoop dance demonstration by two-time world champion hoop dancer and educator who is featured in Buk’s book. The panel begins promptly at 6:30 p.m. A book signing will follow the discussion.
At 6:30 p.m., facilitated by Womentum Executive Director Kristen Fox, the panel will feature:
— Lindsay Linton Buk, author of Women Shaping the West: Stories from Wyoming
— Jasmine Pickner Bell, two-time world hoop dance champion and educator
— Marnie Peterson, scientist, inventor, entrepreneur
— Lynette St. Clair, Eastern Shoshone linguist, cultural preservationist and education consultant on the Wind River Reservation
— Jessie Allen Gottwald, director and owner of Allen’s Diamond 4 Ranch, yoga instructor, hunting guide, National Outdoor Leadership School instructor and former Miss Wyoming
Together, these women’s stories encourage today’s women and girls to own their truths, dream boldly, and share their gifts with the world.
Kristen Fox, Executive Director of Womentum, emphasizes that this event is for everyone: “Women’s History Month is a celebratory time for our community to pause, reflect, and be inspired by women who are shaping our region. We are thrilled to celebrate Lindsay’s work and the incredible women whose stories she uplifts.”
As Womentum continues to inspire and connect women to thrive as leaders, March Onward remains a powerful reminder that women’s leadership takes many forms and that storytelling itself is a tool for visibility, belonging, and impact.
