WOMEN'S WORK Curated by Claudette Torneden
About this Event
Group Exhibition Women’s Work Opening Friday, July 3 at Positive Space Tulsa
Women’s Work, curated by Claudette Torneden, is an exhibition of artwork by women that boldly confronts, questions, and reimagines the spaces women are told they “should” and “should not” occupy. Through diverse media, these artists confront the inequalities deeply rooted in the art world environment, address the systemic issues unique to women in the arts, and reframe the narratives historically used to confine or silence women.
Each artist brings a unique perspective shaped by their individual experiences facing the expectations of “women’s art” as well as society more broadly during their careers, with works created for this exhibit revealing to the audience what only Women’s Work can: our perspective, our lens, our challenges, and our accomplishments. Works include photography, printmaking, painting, drawing, sculpture, collage, assemblage, and more.
